Desiree sent a link to another community that has placed a certain emphasis on vows and commitments. Perhaps this will encourage new and unique language to our journey.
Moving Forward
12 08 2008Here is what we came up with this past Monday night. Over the next few weeks, we’ll move these into a language and structure that we can resonate with and agree upon.
1. COMMON VOWS: experimentation, accountability, scripture based, for the “here and now,” commitments last over certain period of time, example: simplicity
2. READ AND STUDY SCRIPTURE: discussion, experimentation, gospel? epistle?
3. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: what the needs of the community around us? “Socks and Gloves”- FLOOD, SAAM, and our surrounding neighborhood.
4. PRAYER: open conversation, sharing needs, spiritual formation, both communal and individual commitment, part of vows
5. SHARING STORIES: listening to each other, creative sharing (artifacts), sharing gifts (Sam’s classes idea)
6. LIFE PATTERNS: meals, intentional ways of seeing more of each other (and keeping our vows), sharing schedules

The Horizon
17 07 2008Hey Team….
I had a great time this past week. Our conversation was full. Walking away, we agreed that it’s time to begin asking ourselves some deeper questions and prepare for action. I thought I’d go ahead post some of them.
1. After reading Matthew and Soul Graffiti, what about our lives as a community need to change? What specific actions need to take place in order to move from conversation to life transformation?
2. What is next for us? Another section of scripture? Another book?
3. As Monday night seems to work for a lot of people, how to we handle a growing group?
4. Eric spoke to us last week about a desire for experimentations in truth. What would that look like for us? Do we have ideas?
As our journey continues, my prayer is that God would go before us and pave the way for something amazing to happen. Babies, new jobs, and other big decisions are on the horizon for many of us. I’m excited to be “in it” with all of you.
Next week we’ll be sharing our art experiments. Meet at J&M at 6:30pm. See you there!
